The concept

Art that breeds.

Inheritance is an onchain generative art collection. A few founders come first, then every piece is bred from two before it, inheriting their colours and shapes, and now and then mutating into something new.

Do that over and over and real families form. Pieces you can see are related, each one tracing back to a founder. This lab lets you try it yourself.

breed two founders.

pick two founders, or roll random specimens, and breed them. the real engine crosses their traits, mutates one now and then, and renders the child live. see exactly what it inherited.

How the genetics work. The first n specimens are genesis, random founding bloodlines. Every later specimen selects two parents from those already minted and crosses their genomes gene-by-gene, with each gene having a chance to mutate. Palette, symmetry and field-structure are inherited as visible traits, so siblings rhyme and a bloodline keeps a recognisable look as it drifts across generations. A specimen belongs to the founding dynasty it took its palette from, so every piece traces back to one of the genesis founders. Everything is deterministic from the master seed.
